Hello, I am Mat and I am a carp addict.

Maybe it all began with chasing suckers and carp between the steelhead runs, or perhaps it was the obsession with the gigantic bright orange koi in the town park where I grew up.  But in all the years I have fly fished I have never had more fun than when I was chasing carp.
  I live a bit of an odd life, I own a fly shop in the middle of the Midwest's spring creeks, but on my days off while people are driving to my town to chase trout, I wave while driving in the opposite direction on my way to find carp.
  I opened Uncommon carp so that there was a place that anybody chasing carp with a fly could find the specialized equipment and flies they needed in one place without having to sort through stuff that was not quite right, to be able to ask questions without the blank eyed stare or snide comments about fishing for trash fish, and as a place to share and increase the knowledge of fly fishing for carp.
