It's a Monster (unfortunately not a fish)
My good friend Michigan John and I have been tinkering with some fly rod ideas, mostly in the shorty warmwater realm.  The measurments on some of the 'tournament legal' rods were just odd.  Doing some measurments we found that many of these specialty designed rods were just 4 piece ten foot rods that dropped the butt section and put a handle on the third section.
So we took a couple of our own 10' 6 weights and did just that.  Not having a spare reel seat and handle, and being the low patience rod builder that I am, I cut the cork off the existing handle, drilled out the reel seat poorly (the new rod has a crooked reel seat) and put the whole monster together with hastily applied epoxy.
The result, one of the ugliest rods that will be a beastly small carp rod.
I have a couple tips on some carp in our local trout streams, so over the weekend I may just pack the Frankenstein rod and fish for some trout in between carp holes.
Pictures of the abomination coming this afternoon.
