Power plants can be good
I remember this winter trick from back in Michigan. When the weather is bone chilling cold, you can still find active carp milling about in the warm water discharges from power plants and other wonders of the post industrial world. I am getting twitchy enough from lack of fishing to consider pushing my jon boat over the ice and into the open water to get close to the source of the discharge and go chase some fish.
But for those of us who are stuck with real winters (ones that include frozen water and carp settling down on the bottom of lakes and streams) warm water discharges, while not always pretty, can still give us an opportunity to catch some winter carp.
